Postdoc position within the project PLATO at INAF – Catania Astrophysical Observatory

The Osservatorio Astrofisico di Catania, part of the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF), invites applications for a Post Doctoral fellowship on the subject “Methods for stellar rotation and magnetic activity measurements in preparation for the ESA space mission PLATO” funded by ASI/INAF agreement No. 2015-019-R.1-2018.

Duration of the contract: 12 months (with possible extension within the limit of 6 years)
Salary: 31750 Euro gross annual amount (about 2340 Euro net per month)

Job Tasks 

  • Specification, development, and testing of the algorithms for the analysis of PLATO light curves for the purposes of stellar rotation measurements and activity studies;
  • Development and documentation of computer codes for the application of the above algorithms.

Profile’s requirements 

  • Master degree either in Physics, Astronomy or Astrophysics followed by three years scientific experience

OR

  • PhD in Physics, Astronomy or Astrophysics
