The PLATO PSM WP11/14 Exoplanet research area is holding a workshop from 24-26th October at the LAM, Marseille (France) looking at the impact of stellar variability on the detection and characterisation of exoplanets. The presence of stellar variability and activity diminish our reliability in planet detection and complicate and lower our reliability in their mass determination. The workshop will bring together modellers, theorists and observers to examine and discuss variability and how we can try to mitigate against its effects.
The website for the workshop is : https://plato-esp2018.sciencesconf.org
and gives details on scientific programme, invited speakers and registration etc.
This event is the first of a series of thematic workshops concerned with topics considered important to PLATO science.
